How to register and activate BHIM UPI App on your Mobile Phone?
Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) is a payment app that lets you make simple, easy and quick transactions using Unified Payments Interface (UPI).
You can make direct bank payments to anyone using their UPI ID or combination of Account Number & IFSC or by scanning their QR Code with the BHIM app. You can also request money through the app from a UPI ID.
To use BHIM App, following are the basic requirements:
- Your Mobile Number should be registered/ linked with your Bank Account
- Use the same Mobile Number (linked with your Bank Account) to configure/ access BHIM App on your mobile
- Active/ Valid Debit Card for your Bank Account (to generate UPI PIN)
Follow the steps below to register BHIM on your Mobile Phone:
Download and install BHIM App on your Mobile.
After successful installation, open the BHIM App and select your preferred “Language”.
Click on “Proceed” to allow the BHIM App access for SMS, Call and Location (optional) for a seamless BHIM experience.
On “Verify Mobile Number” screen, the App will require to send a SMS from your Mobile Phone to verify and register your Mobile Number on BHIM.
Note: If you are using 2-SIM in your Mobile Phone, please select the SIM registered with your Bank account.
On pop-up message, click on “Proceed” to confirm your SIM selection. App will start the Mobile Number verification process.

After successful verification, “Mobile Number Verification Successful” message will appear on the Screen and BHIM App will take you to “Register Passcode” screen. Passcode is a 4-digit PIN that is required to login and use the BHIM App.
On Register Passcode screen, enter 4-digit Passcode and click on “Tick Mark” to proceed.
On “Confirm Passcode” screen, again enter the same 4-digit Passcode.
“You have successfully set your Passcode” message will appear on your screen.
On Next screen, select your Bank from the list of available Banks and click on “NEXT” button to link your Bank Account with BHIM App.
On next screen, your Bank Account (registered with your Mobile Number) will automatically fetch by BHIM App. Last 2-digits of your A/c Number and IFSC will be shown on the screen. Your UPI PIN not set message will also show on the screen.
Set your 4-digit UPI PIN by providing last 6-digits and Expiry date of your Bank’s Debit card.
Your account is now registered and ready to use. Login to BHIM App with help of your 4-digit Passcode.
It’s a good practice to not share your UPI PIN with anyone. You will never be asked for a pin to receive money. Use UPI PIN only if you want to pay or check account balance.
